HELP FOR HAITI
Quick Links
To First Baptist Church,
You are aware of the tragedy that struck Haiti this week in relation to the recent earthquake.

Below you will find a compilation of the responses from our SBC and State Convention entities as well as other useful links.

If your church is planning any kind of direct response to the region we would ask you to let us know so we can partner interested sister churches together.

Also, if your church would have an interest in being part of a  mission trip to that area in the coming months, we would appreciate your sharing that with us as well so we can assess the viability of putting together such a venture.

Thank you for your missional mindedness and heart for helping the hurting.

In Kingdom Service,
Roger Yancey

Volunteers need to be preparing by getting your passports in order and making sure your shots are up to date.

BAPTIST GLOBAL RESPONSE                                                                                                  BGR

The initial Southern Baptist disaster relief effort will be led by Florida Baptists, who have had ministry relationships in Haiti for more than 20 years and currently have six staff members who live and work in the country, said Jim Brown, U.S. director for Baptist Global Response.  The Southern Baptist International Mission Board does not have long-term personnel stationed in the country.  Baptist Global Response offers several financial giving opportunities. Please prayerfully consider how you would like to support those in need and how BGR can effectively and efficiently utilize your gift.

If you are not able to donate online, you may send your gift to:  Baptist Global Response, 402 BNA Drive, Suite 411, Nashville, TN  37217.
TEXAS BAPTIST MEN                                                                                                             TBM

If you would like to donate to help support this endeavor, please contact Jeanette Nichols at 214-828-5351 or you may donate online by going to the donations tab on the front page of our website. You may also mail your check to Texas Baptist Men at 5351 Catron Drive, Dallas, Texas 75227.

Another immediate need is for medical equipment such as portable X-ray machines.  Donations of this equipment should be directed to Dick Talley, State Disaster Relief Director, at the address shown above or call him at 214-707-4780.

THE CENTER FOR INTERNATIONAL DISASTER INFORMATION                                                  CIDI
CIDI encourages Americans to respond appropriately and responsibly to today's earthquake in Haiti.  Those who wish to best help the victims in Haiti are asked to donate cash as an alternative to in-kind donations such as clothing and canned goods.  Cash donations are widely recognized as the most efficient and effective means of relief, a policy support by CIDI's funding partner, the United States Agency for International Development's Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance, and those in established international disaster response community.
